Salt and Sweet....

Thank you to my older sister for bringing me some wonderful american chocolate.... The age old combination of salty and sweetness. I don't generally like that combination but I recently received some wonderful macaroons from my father in law to be from Pierre Herme at Selfridges, one of the flavours was salted caramel, not a flavour I would have picked myself but on first bite, I was in love...... The saltiness actually brought out more of the sweetness and flavour.
I'm not a fan of currants or raisins in couscous or an apricot stuffing, but there are just some things that go so well together...

Butterfinger and reeses peanut butter cups have the salty peanut butter type filling then the sweet milk chocolate outer shell. AMAZING. If I were a nice person I would share them round.... but on this occassion, get yer own! I even hide them from my other half.... tee hee.

I'll let you enjoy the picture I took :-)

Friday Night at the Curry House

Friday night started with a trip to the local curry house, a little gem on the Ewell Road in Surbiton, Prithi is fantastic and good value.
After samosas, onion bhajis and purhis we all had delicious main courses accompanied with copious amounts of beer!
I always get disappointed with Indian restaurants when they don't have thalis on the menu.... what's better than having a little bit of everything on one plate??!!!
I happily saw 2 options of thali on the menu, a non meat one and a meat one, being the massive carnivore that I am I opted for the meat one, chicken tikka, sheesh kebab, rogan josh, naan, and rice! All on one plate!! Yes, I know what you're thinking... what a greedy pig!! There was enough food for it to be good value but not sooooo much that you leave feeling stuffed and uncomfortable.
The lamb rogan josh had tender pieces of meat full of flavour and just spicy enough to warm you up in the -1 temperatures we are experiencing at the moment.
Not only is the food good here, the number of customers that came in and the staff knew by name was impressive, the atmosphere is chilled and warm and for the 4 of us with starters, mains and plenty of alcohol, the bill only came to £86.00.
It's well worth the cash and you will end up going there again and again and again........

Laverstock Farm Butchers Bargain

Believe it or not but the above steak cost us £5.00 from the Laverstock Farm Butcher in Twickenham! We went in at about 4pm on a Saturday and as 2 T-Bones hadn't sold yet and were staring to dry out at the edges the Butcher sold them to us for £5.00 each. See what bargains you could get from there!

The food loving couples gastronomical adventures....

This blog is just a little fun for my fiancee and I. We love to eat, the basis of our relationship is based on eating (oh, and being in love). We talk about what to eat and where to eat almost all the time.

On our first date 3 years ago our eyes met over a Phad Thai at The Albert pub in Twickenham (one of the best Thai restaurants, if you haven't been give it a try!), I remember what I had to eat course by course as well as what he had.... after that meal I knew he was a keeper, his love of food was almost as great as mine!

We wanted to share our love of food with anyone who will listen, we like trying new places and wanted to share our thoughts and views on the food....
In this age of austerity and economic doom and gloom, we want to give you a small nugget of sunshine, going out to eat doesn't have to break the bank, we will bring you pictures and tips on where to go at what time to get the best deal possible on the most amazing food possible.

We have good friends who we usually go and dine with, they love food too, the type of food ranges from takeaway sushi from Atari-ya in Norbiton to a good old slap up pub supper at The Sportsman in Surrey.

Watch this space for the latest reviews and thoughts on our latest gastronomical adventures!
